Dr. Hunter is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Hunter is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Education & Experience


Originally from Minnetonka, Minnesota, Dr. Hunter received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in ocular pathology at the University of Utah, Moran Eye Center prior to completing residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Hunter is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Hunter is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona where he mentors senior residents in surgical and comprehensive ophthalmology.

Specializations


Dr. Hunter is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He specializes in customizing visual outcomes to fit patients’ refractive needs using the latest technological advancements. His interests include complex cataract surgery and cataract-refractive procedures such as refractive lens exchange, limbal relaxing incisions and toric lenses for correction of astigmatism, as well as the use of Crystalens, multifocal lenses, Symfony expanded depth of focus lenses, and monovision to obtain the best refractive outcomes for patients.

Dr, Hunter specializes in blade-free LASIK using IntraLase and a custom wavefront femtosecond Allegretto Wavelight Excimer laser for refractive correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism as well as enhancements for post-cataract and post-refractive patients.

Dr. Hunter is a knowledgeable, conscientious, and compassionate physician. He believes in the importance of investing time into educating patients about their eye health and believes that trust, patience, and a sense of humor are important ingredients in a strong doctor-patient relationship.

He is happily married with two happy and healthy children. In addition to playing with his dogs, he enjoys hiking, playing guitar, playing tennis, photography, traveling, and bonsai gardening. His favorite pastime, of course, is playing with his children.
