Dr. William J. Fishkind, MD, FACS, is a clinical professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City Utah, and The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, and the past Director of the Fishkind, Bakewell, Maltzman, Hunter & Associates Eye Care and Surgery Center in Tucson, Arizona.
He attained his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed a medical residency at the Harvard Primary Care Program in Boston as well as an Ophthalmology Residency at a combined program of the USPHS Hospital and Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He is board certified in both internal medicine and ophthalmology.
Dr. Fishkind is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, from which he received an honor award and senior honor award, and Secretariat award, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is program chairman for the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is president emeritus of the Outpatient Ophthalmology Surgery Society.
Dr. Fishkind travels extensively, teaching nationally and internationally. He has been a visiting professor at numerous universities and given many scientific presentations. He has lectured and served as an instructing guest surgeon throughout the United States, in Ireland, Spain, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, China, and Korea. He has edited a textbook, Complications in Phacoemulsification: Avoidance, Recognition, and Management. He has also edited a major textbook entitled: Phacoemulsification and Intra Ocular Lens Implantation. Both are published by Thieme Publications in New York City. Additionally, Dr. Fishkind has authored many articles as well as book chapters on phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. He is honored to be one of Americas Top Physicians and Tucson’s Best 100 Doctors. He is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America.
